The Sugarbean Sisters
by Nathan Sanders

directed by Peter Cooper

August 25 – September 22

About the Playwright:
In the spring of 2003, "The Sugar Bean Sisters"
enjoyed a critically acclaimed run at Company of Angels Theatre in Los Angeles. "L.A. Weekly" called it "a wildly funny script" while "The Los Angeles Times" simply declared the play "hilarious!" Selections from "The Sugar Bean Sisters" have been published in "One On One: The Best Women's Monologues of the Nineties" by Applause Books. The full script is published by Dramatic Publishing. San Jose Stage Company presented the Northern California premiere of "The Sugar Bean Sisters" in the fall of 2006. Other upcoming productions include StageWorks Theatre in Tampa, FL and the Water Tower Theatre in Addison, TX.

Nathan studied playwriting with Howard Stein, Associate Supervisor of the Playwriting Program at the Yale School of Drama. He lives in San Francisco and is an active member of the Dramatists Guild of America

Pegasus Theater Company has been described as "feisty." It's a good description. For nearly a decade, this all-volunteer company has produced fully staged productions of challenging and sometimes controversial plays, ranging from the comedic absurd to the tragic drama, on a very modest budget.

Their goal is to provide the community and visitors great entertainment and thought-provoking theater that is still affordable. Their primary source of income is ticket sales. They have kept prices as low as possible, and they ensure access to all their shows through a "Pay What You Can" night for each event.

For the past two years they have produced a very popular introduction to some of Shakespeare's finest plays, including histories as well as tragedies and comedies. Billed as Speak the Speech (in 2005) and Speak the Speech . . . Again (an expanded version in 2006), this show has been welcomed and well received by adults and children in libraries in Guerneville, Windsor, and Rohnert Park, as well as at their short runs at Pegasus Theater.

We're in Monte Rio (a historical "Vacation Wonderland"), nestled in the redwoods, six miles west of Guerneville, and eight miles from the coast (Jenner by the Sea). This resort area has wonderful inns, shops, restaurants, and wineries, not to mention the Russian River and a plethora of natural wonders.
