An original theatrical and musical performance exploring borders using the words of SoCo residents – part of the county-wide Performance Sonoma
festival.

Borders and boundaries create our lives’ vital distinctions.Our original theater piece tells the stories of these edges and perimeters of our selves, and our personal, cultural and national identities. What happens when these borderlands are crossed… or not?

Rabble-Fish Theater brings together world class performers and musicians from Europe, NY and Sonoma County, to create this new work using the collected words of local residents.

Our artists also cross borders of their disciplines, expanding their usual expression forms. Evocative movement, live music soundscapes and visual images encourage a deeper reflection upon the fluid and fluctuating nature of boundaries and borders in our lives. Our artists cross borders as they develop how their disciplines express in performance. Rabble-Fish’s world class collaborators – German and Korean composers, Gerhard Stäbler and Kunsu Shim, German percussionist, Dirk Rothbrust, German dramaturge/director, Jörg Detmold, Finnish classical accordionist, Janne Rättyä, Sonoma County photographer, Rosalie Wardell, and New York choreographer, Kate Weare – join talent and imagination to bring this production to life. Using evocative movement, soundscapes and visual images, the ensemble encourages a deeper reflection upon the fluid and fluctuating nature of boundaries and borders in our lives.

Rabble-Fish Theater, founded by Sonoma County actor and artistic director Kathie Schmid, is dedicated to the creation of dynamic, inter-disciplinary theater in Sonoma County through an ongoing collaboration with visionary American and international performing artists.
